T20 World Cup cricket’s first pop-up stadium in three months
T20 World Cup 2024: We all know by now how important India’s television viewership is to the success of a cricket World Cup. The contest between India and Pakistan is the one that fans are most looking forward to.
The two neighbors’ icy relationship outside the cricket field adds an extra layer of tension to the game.
Because of this, India matches are always played at home at prime time during the World Cup, wherever the tournament is held.
The India-Pakistan match is also held at the venue with the largest attendance.
All those factors have been taken into account once more for the USA-West Indies T20 World Cup in June.
It’s only that there are more obstacles to overcome, such as the physical distance between the US and the Indian subcontinent and the lack of a cricket culture and infrastructure in the US.
41 of the 55 World Cup games are scheduled to take place in the Caribbean.
However, three of India’s four league games—including the match against Pakistan—will take place in a pop-up stadium in New York, and all four of them will be day games.
“We are bringing some of the most eagerly awaited cricket matches, including the most eagerly awaited match of all, to New York because it is a hub for cricket fans.”
Chris Tetley, the head of events at ICC, told a small group of media members, “We anticipate an incredible atmosphere this World Cup.”

“Daytime is something we are considering, but people will come to see world-class players perform.”
This is ICC’s most ambitious endeavor to yet, aiming to reach out to the Indian diaspora and the rich sports market in the USA.
“Our global rights plan discusses the importance of the United States. We rank it as our third-largest market, after the UK and India.
Thirty million cricket lovers have been identified, Tetley claimed.
The fact that the 34,000-seat New York stadium can accommodate “more spectators than any ground in UK and more than Wankhede” excites him.
However, it will be the first time in cricket history that the pitch, outfield, and bleacher seats are all assembled for the game and then taken down.
The field is now a muddy outfield in Nassau County, 25 miles east of Manhattan.
Work on hammering out the old ground will start in February, and by early May, drainage will be built and a new outfield will be in place.
Following that, a drop-in pitch will be constructed, and a testing phase, which will include the tournament’s warm-up matches, will run through May.
